A Daily Prayer for Lent
Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing to us the true treasure we seek in sending into the world your Son Jesus Christ (Psalm 63:1-8).
I thank you for sending me the gift of faith that unites me to Christ (Eph. 2:8). I confess that I am shaped more by the desires of my sinful flesh and the world than by Christ (Rom. 7:15). Please put sin to death in my life, in my everyday experiences, and in the fellowship of Forest Grove Reformed Church. Help me to recognize sin for what it truly is (Col. 3:5, idolatry), to bring my sin into the light of your holy presence (Isaiah 6), to remember that I am united to Christ by faith through grace (Rom. 6:1-4), and to seek the fruit of your Spirit working in my life (Gal. 5:22-24). Amen.
